What is Alpha?

Alpha is a series of 8 FREE sessions exploring the Christian faith. Each talk looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation.

First up ...there's foodAlpha2

Whether it's a group of friends gathered around a kitchen table, or a quick catch up over coffee and cake, food has a way of bringing people together. It's no different at Alpha. Most sessions start with food, because it's a great way to build community and get to know each other.

Then a ...talk

The talks are designed to engage and inspire conversation. Usually around thirty minutes long and are played as a video. They explore the big issues around faith and unpack the basics of Christianity, addressing questions from Is there more to life than this? and Who is Jesus? to How can we have faith? and Why and how do I pray?

Followed by a ...discussion

Probably the most important part of any Alpha: the chance to share thoughts and ideas on the topic, and simply discuss it in a small group. There's no obligation to say anything and there's nothing you can't say (seriously). It's an opportunity to hear from others and contribute your own perspective in an honest, friendly and open environment.

When does the course run?Alpha3

We plan to run the course once or twice a year.  Full details will be advertised in church prior to a new course starting and also will be advertised on our website.  Just look out for it in the 'news' section on the front page.  If you have any other queries regarding an Alpha course, please contact the church using the 'Contact Us' page on our site.

Some key information about the church...

Where & when does the church meet?
King's Church Mildenhall meets every Sunday at 10.30am for our Sunday Service.
Aim to arrive at least 10 minutes early to ensure you get a parking spot and seat in time for the service to start.

We meet at the church building in the middle of the town. The address is:

Suffolk
IP28 7EF

You can see a map on our contact us page

What should I expect when I visit the church?

You will receive a very warm welcome particularly from our Welcome Team who will be able to answer your questions and direct you to where you need to go. There will be a time of singing with opportunity for church members to pray or read a passage from the bible. After prayers there will be a preach from one of the leaders sometimes with a chance to respond at the end of the service.

Tea, coffee and biscuits are served after the service where there is plenty of time to meet new people and ask more questions.

What happens to the children at church?

We have a fantastic programme for the children at KCM for ages 0-16. Children stay with their parents at the start of the service as we worship (sing songs!) together for the first part of the morning. Someone will announce when the children need to go to their programme. You will need to go with your children and register them.

For more information about what happens in the children's work please visit the relevant age groups for you under church life.

Is there a dress code?

No! Please just be yourself and come dressed in your 'normal' clothes.

Will I have to join in?

Not at all!

You are free to simply observe or participate as much as feels comfortable for you.
