Sunday Youth Ministry

Sunday Youth Ministry is a time when the children leave the Sunday morning service after the first 15 to 20 minutes each week.

The children are divided into three groups according to their age as follows:

Splash Ages 4-7      Plunge Ages 8-11     Quench Ages 12-16

Children start Splash on their 4th birthday and move up to their new groups after their appropriate birthday or the end of that term.

Sessions

The younger groups use the Scripture Union materials as a guideline. The sessions will usually include a Bible story and other activities such as games, crafts, drama, songs and discussion. Sometimes a video clip or multimedia presentation may be used in the sessions. Once a month ‘Splash’ begin the session by singing songs led by our musicians.

Leaders

Sunday Youth Ministry leaders and helpers work in small teams on a rota basis in order to give each leader and helper some Sundays in the church service.

Prayer

Sunday Youth Ministry is only a small part of your child’s Christian education & experience. May I encourage you to join with us in praying for and with your children.
You can also reinforce your child’s learning and understanding by discussing what they have done in the sessions and by reading the Bible together or with younger children by reading Bible stories at bedtime.

Expectations

We seek to follow Christian principles in all aspects of our relationships and expect courteous behaviour at all times, enabling an environment where staff and children are valued, happy and safe.  Parents and guardians will need to complete a registration form (available from the group leader) with emergency contact details and safety information.

Safeguarding

All Sunday Youth Ministry leaders and helpers conform to our ‘Child Protection’ church policy, they are DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service) police checked (18+). The group leaders are committed Christians who are regular church attendees.

You can see a map on our contact us page

What should I expect when I visit the church?

You will receive a very warm welcome particularly from our Welcome Team who will be able to answer your questions and direct you to where you need to go. There will be a time of singing with opportunity for church members to pray or read a passage from the bible. After prayers there will be a preach from one of the leaders sometimes with a chance to respond at the end of the service.

Tea, coffee and biscuits are served after the service where there is plenty of time to meet new people and ask more questions.

What happens to the children at church?

We have a fantastic programme for the children at KCM for ages 0-16. Children stay with their parents at the start of the service as we worship (sing songs!) together for the first part of the morning. Someone will announce when the children need to go to their programme. You will need to go with your children and register them.

For more information about what happens in the children's work please visit the relevant age groups for you under church life.

Is there a dress code?

No! Please just be yourself and come dressed in your 'normal' clothes.

Will I have to join in?

Not at all!

You are free to simply observe or participate as much as feels comfortable for you.
